Jacquie Harvey BEM is known around the world for her quilting designs. A C&TA member, when she heard about our community Coronaquilt, she told us about her own quilt project, in which you can also take part. Jacquie's is a six-month project, in which you make all the squares for yourself. If you want the instructions, please email [email protected], who will send each pattern out to you on Jacquie's behalf. Jacquie developed the idea for her own group, the Nelson Quilters in North Walsham, but is happy to share. She explains: "Hearing that we, of a certain age, were going to be persuaded to stay at home over the next 12 weeks, made me realise what many of us would now be missing - one being our quilt/craft groups and also volunteering responsibilities etc. "As many of you know, I have designed several on-line Block of the Month quilts over the years and thought this might be the moment to resurrect the idea. |
"It will be a very simple project of four blocks and a border, over a period of six months.
"The design is there as a guide only – you can use it slavishly or, as a stepping stone to greater things.
"All you will need, in addition to your usual fabric and embroidery threads, will be a box of wax crayons.
"I hope that you can have some fun and hopefully it will fill a few leisure hours when you aren’t out in the garden or wondering what to cook, over the coming weeks. It might also give all you grandmothers a simple idea to start your grandchildren sewing, when you can next see them.
"Please feel free to pass the patterns on to any interested friends with my compliments."
If you want the instructions, please email [email protected], who will send each pattern out to you on Jacquie's behalf.
The second part has now gone out - if you requested it and I've missed you, apologies! Drop me an mail and I'll send it asap. I can also send you the first two together if you want to join now.
