SHAWLS ON SHOW - late addition to programme.
In tribute to C&TA founder member Helen Hoyte MBE, the trustees have organised a rare chance to see a collection of 19th Century Shawls. They will be paraded on the catwalk and displayed in the Victorian Conservatory at Carrow House, Norwich (once home of the NMS Textile Collection). These shawls are from private collections and seldom on view to the public. They date from the 1820s to c.1870s when the renowned Norwich Shawl manufacturing industry was at its height. These exceptional textiles were hand woven, coveted by royalty and exported around the globe. It will be a very special occasion and rare opportunity to see this number of Victoria shawls worn again.
